My Laptop is missing!
I can’t find my laptop. It’s not in my bag. When I arrived in Jeddah, I took my bag out of the overhead locker and checked inside as I always do, but it wasn’t there. I can’t remember if I put it in my larger bag that went in the hold.
Should I be panicking about it? I hope all my data is saved on OneDrive (the cloud). At least it’s just an inconvenience and a cost, but still very frustrating.
Jeddah Airport is an awful place
Jeddah Airport is by far the most characterless airport I’ve ever been to. It’s this massive, sprawling place where it takes forever to walk anywhere. When transferring flights, you have to go through security again, and the staff are faceless at best, rude at worst. The food and drink options are limited, and the shops are uninspired. To be blunt, whoever signed off on the designs for these spaces must have zero taste or imagination. The airport tries to look shiny and futuristic, but it ends up feeling cold and unwelcoming—like something out of Star Wars.
I also noticed Birmingham and Manchester on the departure boards. They look as outdated as public toilets in a British town center. It’s hard to believe these are international airports.
After they have read this post, I’ll probably be detained by the Saudi’s next time I fly into a Saudi aiport.
F@@king elbows
The guy sitting next to me is a real jerk with his elbows. If you don’t want the middle seat (as he has), then you should choose your seat earlier or pay extra. It’s just basic courtesy.
There’s just over two and a half hours to go, and we’ll be landing at Schiphol (near Amsterdam).
Musk and the villains in James Bond films
Looking at how Elon Musk behaves, it’s like I’m watching a real-life Bond movie playing out. The world feels more authoritarian than ever, and democracy in the West seems to be weakening.
Why do people crave power and self-actualization (think Maslow’s hierarchy of needs)? Shouldn’t a legacy be something that benefits society morally? Yet, figures like Murdoch, Musk, Trump, and Putin seem more interested in control and repression than in doing good. Why do some humans seek this?
The US and Europe seem more fragile than ever before. I’ve never felt like this in my lifetime (I was born in the early 70s).
