Lionair to Bali, is it safe?

I’m heading to the local airport for my one hour flight to Bali. Travelling with Lionair, an Indonesia airline with poor a safety record. It was given 2 out of 7 stars from AirlineRatings.com and is banned from European airspace (though I can’t see why the airline would fly there anyway).

I could spend north of €100 instead of the €66 I have spent. Is it worth saving €44? I’ve checked the crash info and I’m going to take my chances.

A couple of years ago I took an internal flight in Nepal from Katmandu to Pokhara. A year later there was an air crash with the same airline, on the same route and at the same time of day.  Nepalese airlines are banned from European airspace due to their safety record.

The flight is actually uneventful other than leaving of an hour late. The other side it takes me anther hour to get my bags at Denpasar airport. But I am not in a rush.

Seeing Grace every day

The pictures on my phone’s wallpaper change from time to time, with me selecting a different one of Grace from the past. I don’t mind selecting ones of when Grace was suffering with FTD. There are lots of positive times to recall from that period, as the core of Grace was always present.

I know Bali is the easy option

I know I am taking the easy option going to Bali, where I can enjoy all comforts – food, drink, beach, nice hotels etc. In my mind I need it. I think there is a danger of me pushing myself too hard and not giving time for grief.
