Flying from Bali to Ambon
To travel from Bali to Ambon on the Maluku islands you need to go via Makassar. In Makassar I stop over for a few hours in an airport hotel, where the room is fine but the shower is grim to say the least. I am shocked by the amount of luggage people take with them on the planes, I’ve never seen anything like it before.
In Ambon I stay at the RumaRuma Farvet Hotel which is a fine hotel, the rooms are of a good stand and they serve delicious chicken sate with peanut sauce. For around €25 per night I cannot complain, as I would be paying at least €70 in the Netherlands.
The infrastructure is more tired than in Java and Bali, I am starting to feel like I am ‘off the beaten track’.
